Creating the Mural

The mural was probably the biggest challenge of the whole placement. We started by using a doodle grid to transfer the design onto the wall. It worked to a certain extent, but it wasn’t perfect, and after a while we realised things were slightly wonky. Not exactly ideal when you’re working on a giant wall that everyone is going to see.

In the end, we used a projector to get everything lined up properly. Unfortunately, that meant erasing some of the work we’d already done and starting again. It was frustrating at the time, but sometimes you’ve got to take a step backwards to move forwards. Most of the mural was completed freehand using chalk as a guide before painting. This project really improved my confidence and showed me that large-scale design work requires patience, problem-solving, and a lot of persistence.
